ONE MORE REASON

As the name suggests, Fur Fusion's main goal is to incorporate many characters from dozens of furry web comics into a card game that's fun and easy to play.  To achieve this, we need the cooperation and support of many people... and we hope you'll agree to be among them.  Here's some food for thought in case you're not sure you want to be involved in the project.

COPYRIGHT ISSUES

This is of great importance to most web comic authors, and considering what happened to Ren & Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi ten years ago, that's perfectly understandable.  Nobody wants to risk losing the rights to their own characters.  We share those concerns, which is why we want to make it as clear as possible that Fur Fusion members retain full rights to their characters.  You're free to do anything you wish with them after joining, because they remain your characters.  Yes, you can even let them star in a competing card game.  We'd rather you didn't do that, but it is your right.

When you join the Fur Fusion project, you'll need to specify which characters we can and cannot use.  We'd like to use as many as possible, but if you're uncomfortable with any of your creations being represented in the game, you'll need to let us know.

CONTROL AND INFLUENCE

You can choose to work as closely with the Fur Fusion project as you'd like... we want everyone's characters to be as accurately represented as possible, so you will definitely have some say in the design of the cards.  If you wish to draw the artwork yourself, you have that option.  If you want to decide what abilities your characters will have, we'll give you that opportunity.  However, the design team reserves the right to review and, if necessary, reject submitted cards.  You shouldn't have to worry about this if you give your characters reasonable abilities and statistics.  Also, if you plan to create your own cards, please keep their design consistent with the others on the site.  We use a combination of Continuum and Ariel fonts for the text on the cards, and simple but colorful cartoon artwork for the characters.  This game will be more lighthearted than Magic: The Gathering, so the character art should reflect this.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Put simply, you have none.  If you want to loan your characters to the project and end your involvement there, you have that option.  However, we'd appreciate it if you could keep an open line and offer feedback about finished cards, as well as any information we may need about your characters.

CONTENT

One goal of Fur Fusion: Wild Cards is to help improve the image of this fandom.  Thanks to MTV and other media outlets, many people view furry fans as bestial fetishists, and we'd like to demonstrate that there's a more savory side to this hobby.  That's why Fur Fusion: Wild Cards is rated PG... there's no profanity, no excessive violence (cartoon violence is fine; in fact, it's encouraged!), and definitely no nudity or sex.  Mild content is acceptable, but if your comics are so dependant on sexual themes that your characters can't exist without them, please don't join Fur Fusion.  We don't need endless battles about the size of your characters' ridiculously sized, barely covered breasts.

CHARACTERS

Fur Fusion will accept nearly any species of animal as a character.  It doesn't have to be a mammal, and it doesn't even have to fit within a species or gender class... we'll find some way to wedge them in.  The only species that's discouraged is, of course, the human.  If humans play an important role in your comics, you can make one or two character cards for them, but that's it.

Also, please note that all characters must be original designs.  We can't use fan art on the cards, because we can't afford the rights to those characters.  Moreover, we're aiming for a fresh cast of characters with this game, and fan art would defeat that purpose.

What qualifies as fan art?  Well, to name an example, we can't use an interpretation of Sonic or Tails in the game.  We also can't include a female version of Tails, or any long-lost relatives.  Characters *inspired* by films, television shows, or games may be acceptable, if they can exist outside the worlds that inspired them.  Just keep this in mind: the more original your character is, the better.

If you have any other questions, please E-mail the design team.  We'll do everything we can to address your concerns.
