FIGHTING

The object of Fur Fusion is to reduce your opponent’s hit points to zero before they do the same to you.  This is achieved with character cards, which can be directed to attack the enemy.  If a player is attacked by a character card, they will lose as many hit points as that card is worth.  In this example, Byron has directly attacked the player, giving him 400 points of damage.

However, players can defend themselves by using their own character cards to take the damage for them.  In addition, the character card will damage the attacker for as many hit points as that card is worth.

In this example, Leo is called in to intercept Byron’s attack.

There are two advantages to defending yourself from attacks.  The first is that you avoid losing your own hit points.  The second is that the card which attacked you will lose hit points, and may even be taken off the playfield.  Leo’s card is stronger than Byron’s, so Leo wins the battle and Byron is discarded.

However, there is a disadvantage to defending yourself.  Although you won’t lose hit points, your character cards will, making them less effective.  Leo lost 300 hit points in this battle, leaving him weaker than Byron was before the battle.  Weak cards are a liability… they take up space that could be occupied by stronger cards and are a poor defense against the dreaded multiforce attacks.
